Jurassic Park Party Ideas

2018 — the year of dinosaurs. I mean, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom comes to theaters this June AND this year marks the 25th anniversary of the original Jurassic Park movie. That being said, I’m not sure if there is a reason why you shouldn’t have a little Jurassic Park get-together… which is exactly why I decided to throw my mom a mini Jurassic Park party for her birthday!

I know, I know — not all moms are cool enough to have a Jurassic Park themed party. But mine is. Quoting the Jurassic movies in everyday conversations is just something that happens in our home (along with a handful of other films which are highly revered). So when my mom and cousin decided to visit for a girl’s weekend full of birthday activities (my mom and I both have a birthday in January), I knew I wanted to throw together a little surprise JP movie night.

And if you’re not trying to spend an arm and a leg on decorations and food, I’ve got you! These party ideas are simple, cute, and will help your party, um, find a way.

Jurassic Park Decorations

The sky really is the limit with Jurassic Park decorations. There are some AWESOME ideas if you have the time and space. (I’ve curated some of my favorites on my Jurassic Park Party Ideas Pinterest board.)

My party was taking place in the middle of winter, so while I wanted to build a Jurassic Park gate to put in my driveway (What have they got in there, King Kong?), I had to refrain and hold my party inside. πŸ™‚

I was, however, still able to pull off an electric fence, some JP garland, and some other JP park nods.

Jurassic Park Food Ideas

For the menu, I spared no expense. Cupcakes with Jurassic Park toppers, dinosaur footprint cookies, raptor claws, and the birthday girl’s favorite, Chipotle. (Okay, it’s my favorite too.)

You pick the cupcake, I’ve got you covered on the topper. DOWNLOAD this Jurassic Park logo to cut your own cupcake toppers with your Cricut, and voila!

Dinosaur Footprint Cookies

Life finds a way with these dino footprint cookies. I chose to make thin PB cookies and used the feet of a small toy dinosaur to make the footprints. Note: while baking your cookies, make sure to check that your footprints are still visible. As the cookies bake and rise, you may need to re-press your dino feet to ensure they remain visible.

Raptor Claws

And he slashes at you with this: a six-inch retractable claw… or in our case, Bugles!

Jurassic Park Coloring Sheets

No themed party of mine is complete without a coloring station. I found some free Jurassic park coloring sheets which you can print on this website.

And yes, the birthday girl was pleased. We watched one of her favorite movies, and I think she really considered me a Clever Girl for my party planning skills.

This is so fun! I have to admit that I still haven’t seen any of the new Jurassic Park movies. Love the classics though!

The first movies is the BEST! Nothing can ever top the first time you saw the raptors in kitchen or saw Lex’s green jello shake!

What a great birthday theme! I love the dinosaur footprint cookies! The raptor claws made me smile, we always use Bugles for one of our Halloween treats (Witches Fingernails.)

Bugles are so tasty (and fun to eat since they always end up as claws or fingernails!). And it was definitely a fun night! πŸ™‚

Thanks Natalie! πŸ™‚ I’m hoping to do themed parties more often!

That would be a fun theme! You could plan out a murder mystery game and have guests solve the crime!
