Now Showing: Sweeney Todd at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center

This post is in partnership with the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. I received complimentary show tickets in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

This weekend, Sweeney Todd officially opened at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA. A musical packed full of bold vocals, dissonant ensembles, impressive set pieces, and of course, a lot of blood — you do not want to miss Sweeney Todd.

AJ and I are both musical lovers, and AJ even admitted Sweeney Todd might be his favorite, so we were so excited to see Sweeney Todd on opening night at Lincoln Park. And more than just a show, our date night also included dinner and dessert from Mrs. Lovett’s Pie Shop! (Talk about an immersive experience!)

Mrs. Lovett was a little busy preparing for the show, so Prohibition Pastries helped her out by baking some delicious pies for guests to purchase before the show, during intermission, and following the performance. The menu? Dinner pies included cream of mushroom port (vegetarian), steak and ale, and chicken in white wine cream sauce. And for dessert? Mixed berry and cream.

Make sure to arrive early if you’re planning to indulge in these tasty pies before the show — word is out, these are the *best* pies in Midland!

What did we think of the show? No surprise, we both gave it a big thumbs up!

This is the second performance we’ve seen at Lincoln Park, our first was Phantom of the Opera, and both have left us speechless! I am in awe at the caliber of performance that this group continues to put on.

Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends, a date night, or a spooky activity for Halloween, you do not want to miss your chance to see Sweeney Todd, a musical featuring a cast of 43 students, professional actors, and equity actors, at Lincoln Park this October.

Love, love, love this! They really went above and beyond and the craftsmanship of the popup pie shop is just beautiful. I wish we lived closer to PA!

The first week or so is pretty challenging. Not going to lie.

As much of a theatre nerd as I am, I never really got into Sweeney Todd. I think I was just a total chicken about it when it became such a phenomenon, and I haven’t explored it any more. I gotta do some real reading up since I don’t live close enough to see this performance!

When the movie came out a few years ago, I was hesitant if I would like it since it seemed on the creepier side, but it is actually pretty awesome. I love the music! And yes, there is some blood, but it’s definitely tolerable. πŸ™‚ Try watching the movie first!
