Hold the Door (Hanger)

April is coming. And with it, the FINAL season of Game of Thrones.

If I’m being honest, I’ve been preparing for the premiere all year long — starting with my 2019 NYE Game of Thrones headband. Yep, I literally rang in the new year in GOT style. After that, my little Shiba Inu felt left out, so I made him a Direwolf in Training DIY Bandana next. (Isn’t he just the cutest little direwolf ever?!)

With the Game of Thrones season premiere of April 14 quickly approaching toward us, I figured it was about time to share another super easy Game of Thrones DIY — a “Hold the Door” door hanger.

Okay, spoiler alert for those GOT fans who are WAY behind!

Oh, Hodor…. šŸ™ <3

Game of Thrones Door Hanger: Hold the Door

What You Need:

Option 1 // Cutting Machine

  • 1 piece of 8.5×11 black cardstock paper
  • White adhesive vinyl
  • Transfer tape
  • Cricut Explore Air II (or a similar machine) and cutting accessories (mat, weeder, scraper)
  • Hold the Door cutout files — Door Hanger DOWNLOAD and Hold the Door Text DOWNLOAD

Option 2 // Printer and Scissors

Option 1 // Cutting Machine

Okay, time for the easiest DIY ever! If you’re using a cutting machine, like a Cricut, download the files found in the list above and load them into Cricut Design Space.

Size your door hanger file at 10.5 inches tall and your Hold the Door text at 3.275 inches wide.

Cut out your door hanger file on your piece of black cardstock paper.

Next, cut out your Hold the Door text on white vinyl. Weed the extra pieces of vinyl off, and then use transfer tape to adhere the vinyl letters onto the center of your door hanger.

Option 2 // Printer and Scissors

Download and print the file found in the list above at your desired size. Using scissors, cut along the edges and cut out the middle circle for the door knob.

HOLD THE DOOR!

I still need to catch up on GOT. I am way behind I think. I am past the Red Wedding but I don’t remember what episode I am exactly on.

You’ve got a couple seasons ahead of you then! But it is TOTALLY worth it to get caught up!

I’m excited for more Game of Thrones, and sad that it is the last season. From the first episode I thought that Jon Snow would be the rightful ruler, but now I’m not so sure.

I’m torn too — I can’t wait to see how it all ends, but I’m sad I won’t have a new season to look forward to anymore!

This is a fun idea! I never thought to make a door hanger with my silhouette, but I think there are a lot of possibilities!

So many options! And it doesn’t require a lot of materials – I just used a piece of cardstock!
