About Dumbo
From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
Directed by Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”), and produced by Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”), Kruger, Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”) and Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), “Dumbo” flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.
And what’s a trip to the circus without a tasty treat? Wow your guests with Dumbo cupcakes that take no time at all to prepare that feature circus peanuts, aka tasty Nutter Butter cookies!
Dumbo Cupcakes Recipe
What You Need:
Cupcakes
- Iced cupcakes (your choice of cake and icing flavor)
- Nutter Butter cookies
Dumbo Banner
- Five 2-inch triangles cut out on red cardstock paper — DOWNLOAD
- Five 1.75-inch triangles cut out on white cardstock paper — DOWNLOAD
- Dumbo letters cut out on blue cardstock paper — DOWNLOAD
- Double-sided tape
- Regular tape
- Twine or decorative string
- 2 wooden skewers
To start, bake and ice your cupcakes — the flavor is up to you! I decided to go with chocolate cupcakes and chocolate icing — a combo which pairs particularly well with peanut butter cookies! Depending on your preference, you can either pick up a boxed cake mix or whip up your cupcakes from scratch — either way, delicious!
Next, break 1/4 of a Nutter Butter cookie off. Place the small piece in a bowl and crush it to small crumbles with the edge of a wooden spoon. Set aside.
Take the remaining larger piece of the Nutter Butter cookie and press it into the center of an iced cupcake so that it is standing upright on top of the cupcake.
Sprinkle the crushed cookies bits on top of the icing around your cookie center piece.
And there you have it! A circus-themed treat sure to wow the audience!
Make a Dumbo Decorative Banner
Looking for a decorative Dumbo banner? Cut out five red triangles (sized at two inches wide) and five white triangles (sized at 1.75 inches wide) on cardstock paper and cut out your individual Dumbo letters on blue cardstock.
Using double-sided tape, stick a white triangle on top of a red triangle, centering the white triangle on the red triangle and aligning the top edge of both pieces. Repeat four additional times.
Using double-sided tape, stick each of the Dumbo letters onto the center of each flag.
Determine how wide you would like your banner to be and cut a piece of twine or string that is several inches wider than that (to allow for a dangling string on each side).
Tie your string to the top of a wooden food skewer. Repeat with your second skewer.
Tape your Dumbo flags onto the string between the two wooden skewers.
Carefully stick your wooden skewers into two cupcakes to serve as a base for your banner.
Dumbo flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.

I look forward to seeing this! Aren’t these cupcakes the perfect pairing for the movie! So clever!
I’ve never seen the original Dumbo, but I LOVE the look of this recreation 😍 Such a great cast list, too. I bet these cupcakes taste super delicious 😋
These look so good and the banner is just perfect! Nutter Butters are one of my biggest weaknesses. I was on the fence about seeing the movie, because it doesn’t look like it stays true to the story I loved. But now that I know more about the people behind the scenes, I’m much more likely to go! I love Tim Burton.
Those cupcakes look so good – I love chocolate and nutter butters! I’m hoping to see the movie this weekend.
These cupcakes look so yummy! I want to see the new Dumbo so bad! It was one of my favorites growing up 🙂
