Rey’s Lightsaber from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

If you’re a Star Wars fan headed to Galaxy’s Edge at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland, you are in for a real treat! Not only is Galaxy’s Edge breathtaking, immersive, and a tons of fun, it also brings with it a vast array of amazing new Star Wars merchandise. And the best (or worst) part? Most of the merchandise found in Galaxy’s Edge is ONLY available in the Disney Parks, and many of the items can ONLY be found in this specific section of the park.

Personally, I love the exclusivity of the merchandise. It gets a little tiring walking into gift shop after gift shop to find the same items for sale. But that’s one area that Galaxy’s Edge surpasses expectations. The Star Wars merchandise sold in GE is unique to this section of the park, and it is AMAZING.

Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars Merchandise

Last summer I first visited Galaxy’s Edge when it opened in Disneyland. I wanted to buy EVERYTHING! There were so many cool items, but I knew I could only fit so much in my already-full luggage during my return trip. *bummer*

We made several Star Wars merchandise splurges this trip, including this amazing Rey vest and tunic inspired by her outfit on Ahch-To when she was training with Luke during The Last Jedi…and we also bought TWO replica lightsabers!

I know, I know, TWO lightsabers?! It all happened so quickly, but I don’t regret it at all.

You see, when Galaxy’s Edge first opened, you had to enter a lottery to visit Batuu and IF you got admission, you could only stay in GE for several hours at a time. That might sound like enough time, but when you are exploring, riding, eating, shopping, etc., your time can slip away rather quickly.

So there we are in Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities taking in all of the amazing items — this is probably the best gift shop in the entire park, so make sure to visit even if you don’t want a lightsaber — when my husband calls me over to a glass counter where there are character lightsabers on display, and he hands me Rey’s lightsaber.

Now, you likely know that Rey is my girl! And when her lightsaber was placed in my hands, it just felt right… like it was calling to me. My husband didn’t take any convincing to make the purchase, in fact, he was the one who persuaded me.

And then he persuaded me — rather easily, I might add — that it was only proper for us to purchase Kylo Ren’s lightsaber too. We needed the set, right?! (*Stay tuned for a post featuring Kylo Ren’s replica lightsaber from Galaxy’s Edge.*)

Rey’s Replica Lightsaber for Sale at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The replica lightsabers for sale in Galaxy’s Edge are no joke. The hilts are heavy, detailed, sturdy, and impressive. These aren’t toys for kids, unless you’re a big kid like my husband and I.

These replica lightsaber hilts are meant to be displayed, and with their price point, I think you’ll agree.

Rey’s lightsaber cost $109.99 and that included the storage case it came in (see photos below). This price does not include the lightsaber blade which must be purchased separately.

The replica character lightsabers sold in Galaxy’s Edge also come in a nice storage and display case.

As I mentioned above, the lightsaber blade is not included with the purchase of the lightsaber hilt.

Lightsaber blades can be purchased separately in two different sizes. I chose to purchase the longer blade at 36 inches, and it cost $49.99.

Can You Take Lightsabers on an Airplane? Can You Ship Lightsabers Home from Galaxy’s Edge?

Great questions! Two that we did not fully consider before making our purchase. But fear not! There are several options to get your newly purchased lightsaber home safely.

When you buy your lightsabers from the park, visit any gift shop in the park (or at a Disney resort hotel) with your receipt and they will package and ship your lightsaber (and other souvenirs) to your home for a VERY reasonable price.

You can also find a FedEx or another shipping service near your hotel if you are not staying on park property. Many of these places offer packaging, too, but be mindful that these services are MUCH more expensive than shipping your item from the park gift shop itself. (Trust me, I know from experience…)

I’ve also seen many Jedi take their lightsabers as a carry on during their flight home, but since this is a fragile, uniquely shaped item (meaning the blade), consider if this is the safest way to transport your rather pricey souvenir.

I’d also like to note that while the custom built lightsabers in Galaxy’s Edge allow you to purchase your preferred color for your lightsaber blade, you do not need to do this for the replica character lightsabers.

The crystals, which determine the color of the blade, are already included with the character lightsabers in the color that they are shown in the films.

Are you looking to purchase a replica character lightsaber while visiting Galaxy’s Edge at the Disney Parks? Make sure to visit Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities to check them out and see what they’re like in person!

I have to admit that a lightsaber is one thing I do not have yet! I really want to do the whole experience at Savi’s workshop, someday. Also every time I’ve been to Galaxy’s Edge I’m SO tempted to buy that tunic and vest!!

It’s good to know the tip about them shipping the lightsaber home for you. My sister bought her kids lightsabers in Disneyland years ago, and they got lost in luggage on the flight home. It was awful and my nephews were so sad about losing them. Great information here!
