Movie nights are one of my favorite activities! Give me a cozy blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and I am all set! But at my house, movie nights are often made extra special with a themed recipe inspired by the movie.

To celebrate the release of P.S. I Still Love You on Netflix, the second movie inspired by the To All The Boys series by Jenny Han, I’ve got a new, easy recipe that you can make for your movie night, whether it be solo, with your Valentine, or with your gal pals.

Lara Jean’s Cherry Turnovers from To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You

One of my favorite things about Lara Jean is her love of baking! In the first movie, she whips up some delicious cupcakes for Kitty’s bake sale — find my copycat recipe here! And in the new film, she bakes more delicious cupcakes AND a mouthwatering cherry turnover for her sweet Valentine Peter. #PensiveBake

I won’t spoil anything other than that! But trust me, you will LOVE snacking on these delicious treats while you watch P.S. I Still Love You on Netflix!

Stream P.S. I Still Love You now on Netflix and read my spoiler-free review of the film!

What You Need:

  • 1-2 rolls of pie crust (depending on how many turnovers you want)
  • 1 can of cherry pie filling
  • 3 tbsp. melted butter
  • ~1 tsp. sugar (for dusting)
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Pastry brush

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees.

Roll out your pre-made pie crust and cut rectangles out of your dough that are approximately 2.5 inches in width and 4 inches in length.

Place half of the dough rectangles on top of a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Place 1-2 spoonfuls of cherry pie filling in the center of the dough rectangles, being careful not to get too close to the edge.

Brush the edges of your dough rectangles on your baking sheet with melted butter.

For the remaining dough rectangles that have’t been used, cut three small slits across the middle to allow the turnovers to release steam as they bake. Then, place those dough rectangles on top of the half with cherry pie filling. Using a fork, form a seal between the two dough pieces by pressing the fork into the edges of the dough around the perimeter.

Sprinkle sugar on top of your turnovers.

Bake your turnovers for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown. When you remove them from the oven, spread melted butter on top. Let them cool completely before moving them.

Arrange your baked turnovers on a plate for easy grabbing or gift one to your special someone in a cute box like Lara Jean does for Peter!

(Totally stealing that from now on! Thanks, Lara Jean!)

These look delicious and super easy to make! My grandpa passed away earlier this year and we would make the packaged cherry turnovers all the time. I’ll have to try these in honor of him!

Have you ever watched the YouTube channel Binging With Babish? I feel like you both do something similar, and that is recreating “iconic” foods from different shows and movies. It’s so much fun! I knew the moment I watched the movie yesterday that I’d see this on your blog at some point, and I was right! Plus, they sound DELISH!

These are delicious. I made mine with strawberry jam instead of the cherry pie filling as I don’t like cherries, would really recommend making these as I had a lot of fun, my family an I loved them 🙂
