I’ve been watching a lot of Lord of the Rings lately! And while that’s not that unusual, let’s just say that with spring right around the corner, I’ve been even more into the tales from Middle Earth than normal.
You see, spring makes me think of the Shire! I’ve found myself listening to The Hobbit soundtrack more often, I baked a cute Hobbit treat (coming to the blog soon!), we’ve been playing a Lord of the Rings like board game (more on that soon, too!), and I’ve just been in the mood to bring more Lord of the Rings decor into our home!
Lord of the Rings Home Decor Ideas
Last February, I made my first DIY Lord of the Rings canvas wall art with a lovely quote from Aragorn and Arwen.
And now I’m adding a fun, subtle, and on-trend decor piece to my kitchen that is inspired by our favorite Hobbits.
Pippin:
What about breakfast?Aragorn:
You’ve already had it.Pippin:
We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast?Merry:
I don’t think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.Pippin:
What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn’t he?Merry:
I wouldn’t count on it.
Let’s be honest, Pippin is right…
Second breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
“Now Serving Second Breakfast” DIY Sign
What You Need:
- Black adhesive vinyl
- Unfinished wood frame with plain background, 15×8 inches — I used this one
- Now Serving Second Breakfast PNG file — DOWNLOAD
- Transfer tape
- Measuring tape
- Cricut Explore Air II (or a similar machine) and cutting accessories (mat, weeder, scraper)
Download the Second Breakfast quote file (found in the list above) and load it into Circuit Design Space.
Size the file at 11.5 inches wide for a 15 inch wide frame. Place your adhesive vinyl on your Cricut mat with the black vinyl side facing up. Cut the quote using the vinyl setting on your Cricut, then weed the extra pieces — anything that is not part of the letters — off of your mat. Make sure to work slowly since the Hobbit font is very intricate!
Lay a piece of transfer tape on top of your black vinyl quote and use your scraper to press it securely against the pieces.
Carefully pull your quote off of the original white background with them now sticking to the transfer tape, again, being careful to remove the intricate Hobbit font letters. Center your Second Breakfast quote in the middle of your frame, then press the quote to the canvas, smoothing it securely onto the background with your scraper.
Carefully remove the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl quote in place on your canvas, and admire your new Second Breakfast sign!
Done with second breakfast? Okay, it’s time for Elevenses!
I love this – we are big fans of Lord of the Rings (our cat’s name is Samwise) and my husband is a big eater and often has “second breakfast.” So I feel like we might need to make this for our house!
This is exactly what I was looking for ! thank you so much for sharing!
