Since I love both musicals and SpongeBob SquarePants (I grew up watching this show on Nickelodeon ALL THE TIME with my friends), I knew I had to watch this musical — and it did not disappoint! All of the live-action performances emulated the characteristics and mannerisms of the beloved animated characters and left my husband I wondering how it was even possible. The energy on the stage was contagious, and by the end of the musical, we were humming and singing along.
Oh, and as a bonus feature, The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage! also includes a sing-a-long version! Which is perfect since the music is terrific and features some original songs from Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, Rob Hyman, John Legend, Panic!
