My sewing journey continues! And this project is a little bit WONDERful.
If you missed my previous post, I’m learning to sew (because I just want to do all the things).
So far I’ve made cloth napkins (you know, practicing those straight lines of stitching), a Slytherin-esque gathered waist skirt, and now a 1940s vintage apron with Wonder Woman vibes.
Sew with Me! Wonder Woman Apron Sewing VLOG
As someone who loves to bake, I love having some apron patterns to try out… and now I’m tempted to make a themed apron for each of my geeky recipes!
DIY Wonder Woman Apron
This was the first time I’ve used a sewing pattern and wow! There sure were a lot of words and instructions that I just didn’t understand. I’m a true beginner, and I have a long way to go to get my sewing skills up to par, but there’s nothing like just jumping into a new hobby to learn by trial and error.

If you’re new to sewing, you will likely relate to some of the mistakes I made (so many I started to include a mistake counter). But in the end, I was really proud of how my Wonder Woman apron came together!
I chose to use three different colors to represent the various sections of Wonder Woman’s armor. A red fabric with a gold glimmer for the chest piece, a gold fabric for the waistband, and a navy fabric with a small star pattern for the apron’s skirt. Additionally, the 1940s vintage apron pattern also included an eyelet lace trim for the straps which I included.
Wonder Woman 1984 Is Now Out!
In Wonder Woman 1984, the fate of the world is once more on the line, and only Wonder Woman can save it. This new chapter in the Wonder Woman story finds Diana Prince living quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s—an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she’s come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile, curating ancient artifacts and only performing her superheroic acts incognito. But now, Diana will have to step directly into the spotlight and muster all her wisdom, strength and courage in order to save mankind from a world of its own making.
To celebrate the release of Wonder Woman 1984, showing now in theaters and on HBO Max, I’m hoping to bake some Wonder Woman desserts in my new apron. Until then, here are some Wonder Woman pies that I made last year (you know, back when we thought this movie would be released in Spring of 2020).
