Hot Chocolate Bombs Inspired by Shimmer and Shine
I’ve teamed up with Nickelodeon to share a magical recipe for Shimmer and Shine hot chocolate bombs!
Shimmer, of course, gets a purple hot chocolate bomb inspired by her outfit with a pink design on top with white sprinkles for her hair and headpiece. While Shine gets a turquoise hot chocolate bomb inspired by her outfit with a blue design and gold sprinkles on top for her hair and headpiece.
While hot chocolate bombs might look tricky to make, don’t be intimidated! Just prepare the chocolate molds with melted candy melts, fill with hot chocolate mix and marshmallows, and watch the magic happen as the hot chocolate bomb melts in your mug when you add hot milk!
How to Make Hot Chocolate Bombs Inspired by Shimmer and Shine
Ingredients and Supplies:
- Silicone sphere molds
- Candy melts — Purple, pink, turquoise, and blue
- Sprinkles — white and gold
- Hot chocolate mix
- Small marshmallows
- Milk
- Wax paper
- Two icing bags
- Small microwave-safe plate and bowls
- Spoon
Instructions:
In separate bowls, melt the purple and turquoise candy melts in the microwave according to the package instructions.
Add a spoonful of the melted purple candy melts to half of the silicone molds and, working quickly, use the back of the spoon to cover the mold. Repeat the process with the turquoise candy melts for the remaining molds.
Place the filled molds in the freezer to harden for 20 minutes.
Remove the molds and place them upside down on a piece of wax paper. Carefully pull back the mold to pop out each piece.
Warm the microwave-safe plate for 30-45 seconds. Cleanup and straighten the edges of each half by placing the open side of the chocolate piece on the warm plate for a few seconds, allowing the edges to melt and even out.
For each color, fill half of the pieces with a few spoonfuls of hot chocolate mix and some marshmallows.
Place an empty chocolate piece on the warm plate to melt the edges again, then place it on top of a matching colored piece that has hot chocolate and marshmallows to form a sphere.
Melt the remaining pink and blue candy melts in separate bowls, then place each color in an icing bag. (Be careful when handling the candy melts, as they will be hot.)
Add a decorative pink design on top of the purple hot chocolate bombs, then add white sprinkles. Add a decorative blue design on top of the turquoise hot chocolate bombs, then add gold sprinkles.
Warm a glass of milk, add a hot chocolate bomb, and watch for a Shimmer and Shine surprise!
