About Sonic the Hedgehog

Powered with incredible speed, Sonic the Hedgehog (voiced by Ben Schwartz), aka The BlueBlur, embraces his new home on Earth. That is, until he accidentally knocks out the power grid and sparks the attention of super-uncool evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Now it’s super-villain vs. super-sonic in an all-out race across the globe to stop Robotnik from using his unique power for world domination. Sonic teams up with The Donut Lord, aka Sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), to save the planet in this action-packed hit that’s fun for the whole family.

Pair Your Movie Night with Sonic the Hedgehog Donuts

Sheriff Tom loves donuts in the movie — at least, Sonic sure thinks he does. That’s why he calls Tom the Donut Lord!

“My favorite person is the Donut Lord — protector of the town and defender of all cheaters, big and small.” — Sonic the Hedgehog about Tom

So it seemed only fitting to incorporate donuts into this movie night treat! Forget the popcorn, it’s all about these Sonic the Hedgehog donuts!

How to Make Sonic the Hedgehog Donuts

What You Need:

  • Donuts (homemade or store bought!)
  • Jar of vanilla frosting
  • Blue food coloring
  • Black, white, and ivory icing
  • Regular-sized marshmallows
  • Almonds
  • Candy melts (any color)
  • Food-safe marker (optional)

Instructions:

Cut regular-sized marshmallows in half diagonally to create triangle shapes, then dip  the short side in melted candy melts and stick to the right side of the donut to give Sonic his three pieces of spiked hair.

Make a small cut where Sonic’s left ear will go, then dip the rounded end of an almond into melted candy melts and place the almond in the hole.

If the donut has a hole in the center, dip a hard candy melt piece(s) in melted candy melts and place it in the center of the donut to fill it. Let dry.

Place the vanilla frosting in a bowl and warm it for 20-30 seconds in the microwave, then mix in blue food coloring.

Dip the Sonic-shaped donut in the warmed blue frosting, then allow the frosting to cool and harden (stick the donut in the freezer to speed up the process!).

Once the blue frosting has set, use a food-safe marker to sketch Sonic’s face onto the top of the frosted donut. (This step is optional.)

Use black icing to outline Sonic’s facial features, including his eyes, nose, smile, and ears. Let dry.

Fill in the remaining section of Sonic’s eyes with white icing.

Fill in the remaining section of Sonic’s mouth area with ivory icing.

Sonic the Hedgehog will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 19.
